Wild Salmon, Omega-3 fatty acids and Vitamin D

Natural wellness practitioners generally agree that wild salmon can be called a "super food." This is not surprising, because it is rich in Omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin D; two nutrients that promote wellness.

Omega-3 fatty acids seem to protect against cancer, heart attack, stroke, rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory diseases.

Vitamin D assists in the absorption of calcium and may prevent the onset of osteoporosis. It has a strengthening action on the immune system and may also protect the body against serious diseases such as cancer, multiple sclerosis, hypertension, arthritis (including rheumatoid arthritis), rickets and many diseases caused by a malfunctioning autoimmune system. Vitamin D, probably because of its ability to increase the absorbtion of usable calcium in the body, may reduce the occurence of bone fractures in the elderly and assist in a speedier recovery from broken bones.
